Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognise the sender and know the content is safe. Hi Thanks for the chat just now. I am producing The Campaign Matters 1 hour documentary special hosted by Peta Credlin to go out to a national audience on the Foxtel/SkyNews/Flash platforms, in the lead up to coming election. The program will be a behind-the-scenes look at federal elections, with specific reference to the coming contest; and explain how federal elections work and the process behind elections. With the help of ex-leaders, campaign directors, sitting Members, candidates and psephologists Peta will take a comprehensive look at what makes a successful campaign. We are hoping Mr Rogers will agree to be interviewed as part of this project, and Peta is very happy to discuss it further over the phone. Specific areas of interest to be discussed include Australia’s electoral architecture and the need for in- person voting in what will be a ‘covid’ election. In terms of timing, we would hope to film the interview ASAP, within the next 4 weeks. Please advise next steps and if I can provide more information. Many thanks in advance, Producer – Sky News Documentaries Mobile: Email: --- Page 3 ---

Would Tuesday 15th at 9.30 be a possibility for the interview please? And I am very keen to grab the footage of previous elections asap. And file sharing is perfect. It would be great to be able to illustrate in pictures how voting/counting/declaring has progressed over time with new technology etc. Many thanks From: media <media@aec.gov.au> Sent: Friday, 28 January 2022 1:16 PM To: Cc: media <media@aec.gov.au> Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] RE: SkyNews Election Special IV request for Commissioner Rogers [SEC=OFFICIAL] Hi Wednesday 16 Feb at 9:30 would work for us. The Commissioner’s office and the prior set up timing is fine. We’re located at 10 Mort St in the city. The AEC’s new command centre is in the building as well and would likely make for good overlay (we can show you it when you’re here and see what you think). I’ll come back to you re the warehouse details. We also have a range of footage of previous elections - voting, counting, declaring nominations etc - and we can send things to you via file sharing if you want…. Hi again Evan, Our shooting schedule is starting to firm up now, and Peta will be in Canberra on Mon 14th , Tues 15th and Wed 16th Feb. Is there any availability in the Commissioner diary for any of these days? during the morning. 0930-1030? We would need 90 mins to set-up prior, and 30mins to wrap. And then we could reset to the Warehouse for 30 mins. In terms of Interview location is the Commissioners Office a possibility? Many thanks From: Sent: Wednesday, 26 January 2022 4:49 PM To: media <media@aec.gov.au> Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] RE: SkyNews Election Special IV request for Commissioner Rogers [SEC=OFFICIAL] Hi Evan, Thanks for the prompt response, and that is great news. Also love the suggestion to shoot within an (semi) operational scenario. In terms of the interview, it would be best to do in a controlled and quiet environment. Can I give you a call to discuss tomorrow/Thursday? When is a good time? And would there be archive of the count from 2019 and other previous elections? Many thanks From: media <media@aec.gov.au> Sent: Wednesday, 26 January 2022 2:49 PM To: Cc: media <media@aec.gov.au> Subject: [EXTERNAL] RE: SkyNews Election Special IV request for Commissioner Rogers [SEC=OFFICIAL] Hi --- Page 4 --- Confirming that the Commissioner is happy to help with this. If it suits, a discussion could be done within an AEC premises or two that is a touch operational – for example, we lease warehouses where we organise and dispatch polling materials, train polling staff and conduct the count (this sort of venue could help visualise the behind-the-scenes explainer of how we deliver the election and provide some good overlay). I am assuming a Canberra location but let me know if that’s not right and I’ll then advise options. Also, let me know if there is a preferred date/time and I can see what works on our end. Our facility in Syd Olympic Park is more advanced in readiness than the Queanbeyan site. Let me know and, if so, we can tee up a time. With remote voting, we’ll work on getting you raw footage. In the interim, you may also be able to just scrape stuff from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcRpYkJZBEk or pan on high res stills from https://www.flickr.com/photos/auselectoralcom/albums/72157710806573631. I’ve also talked to the Commissioner re Peta’s interview and he’s happy if we setup in the AEC’s new command centre for it. Anyway, there’ll be options to do that or an office backdrop when you get here on the 14th. Rogers Australian Electoral Commission www.aec.gov.au From: Evan Ekin-Smyth Date: Sunday, 13 Feb 2022, 16:38 To: Tom Rogers Cc: Subject: Tomorrow’s Credlin interview[SEC=OFFICIAL] Tom Ahead of tomorrow morning’s interview I thought it wise to give you a reminder of Credlin’s last prominent communication on electoral matters - see https://www.skynews.com.au/australia-news/its-farcical-australias-voting-system- doesnt-safeguard-against-multiple-voting/video/fe27a74c6fad37c4ae506b46b2af744a. This was endorsing McGrath’s JSCEM recs with a heavy focus on multiple voting and enrolment / voting ID. She also wrote an opinion piece in support of her on-air spiel - see https://thewest.com.au/opinion/peta-credlin-fears-of-ballot-rigging-at-australian- elections-ng-17a031b6f2ef5f10c794b07107b571d9. Also, here is a preview piece for the doco she is putting together (the purpose of the doco stated as being an opportunity to get behind the scenes of a campaign). See https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.theaustralian.com.au/business/peta-credlin- documentary-to-unveil-secrets-behind-election-campaigns/news- story/82c72472c74d0a8972597b342b70bcac While she may stick tight to the purpose of the doco (for us, what it takes to deliver the election) I wouldn’t be surprised if she asks pointed questions about integrity matters, particularly multiple voting. The interview is at 9:30 in the command centre. I’ll be around beforehand organising their camera people but can get to babysit if you want to have a chat… Cheers Evan Sent with BlackBerry Work (www.blackberry.com)
